Artichoke
The new campaign of the Egyptian artichokes looks like a difficult one. Because there is little or no residual stock from the previous year, this campaign is highly expected. The price of the raw material is high and the high inflation that Egypt is experiencing also leads to a significant increase in production costs, transportation, etc.. There is also an Egyptian pound/€ parity effect that creates instability on expected offers. Ask us for more information.
Onions
The onion market is strongly disturbed by 2 factors: a very active fresh market and a very strong speculative current. There was less yield in the last season in Europe, what is rarer, becomes more expensive.
However, part of the European needs have been transferred to onions imported from China or Egypt in particular. For several weeks now, these containers have been docking at European ports. Will this be enough to reverse this upward trend? The arrival of spring and milder temperatures will perhaps initiate new discussions, more reasonable we hope.
Mushrooms
The morel campaign cultivated in China has started. We will keep you informed of the progress, do not hesitate to contact us for your potential needs.
Fruits
The campaign of Maltese oranges in Tunisia has started, the first containers of fresh oranges for our IQF purees were expected late last week. The strong local demand leads to a significant increase in prices.
